Mr. Brown, 68, of Bolivar, passed away Monday afternoon at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Bolivar on Thursday, November 8, 1951 to the late David Leroy and Jewell Dean Hurst Brown and lived most all of his life here except for 10 years in Fayette County. He married the former Melba Jean Fitzgerald on Saturday, August 31, 1968.
A member of Shandy Baptist Church, he was employed by Russell Baker Logging for 15 years and, in his leisure time, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors. Mr. Brown will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Melba Brown of Bolivar; two daughters, Teresa Ann Carter (Jack) of Slayden, MS and Betty Dean Weaver (Michael) of Sweet Lips, TN; son, David Monroe Brown (Mary Sue) of Bolivar; sister, Barbara Brazil (Marshall) of Benton Co., MS; two brothers, Carl David Brown and Gary Boone Brown, both of Williston; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Lowrance, Jennifer and Matthew Thurmond, Kristie Newton, Alyssa Weaver, Amber Jean Brown, Amanda Michelle and Kristen Amber Vandiver, Gavin, Josh and Ryan Sweeton; and numerous great-grandchildren and cousins.
Mr. Brown was also preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Margaret Louise and Gene Autry Fielding; and two sisters-in-law, Charlene and Joyce Brown.
