Laura Denise Stricklin-Watson

June 21, 1969 — June 10, 2020

Laura Denise (Stricklin) Watson, 50, of Savannah, entered eternal rest on June 10th in Douglasville, GA.

Born June 21, 1969, in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of the late Don R. Stricklin and LuElla Young Stricklin.

In addition to her mother Laura is survived by two sisters, Lisa Stricklin of West Memphis, Arkansas and Donna Stricklin of Savannah, Tennessee and a brother, James Stricklin (Theresa) of Arlington, Tennessee. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and special friends; Debbie Beshires, Colin, Garrett, and Eve Taylor.

Laura grew up in the Memphis and Germantown area. She graduated from Germantown High School. For several years she lived in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where she attended Coastal Carolina Community College.

After her return to Hardin County, she spent the past several years helping care for her late grandmother, Dorthea Reynolds Stricklin. Laura faithfully prepared her favorite breakfast each morning and stayed with her whenever she was needed. Her dedication allowed her grandmother more years in her own home than would have otherwise been possible.

She was also a dedicated caregiver for her father until his death in November. He particularly enjoyed her home cooked meals and they enjoyed watching movies together.

Laura loved all animals, especially cats. She had a special bond with her grandfather, the late J.R. Stricklin because of the horse he purchased for his grandchildren named Big Red.

Laura was an avid reader and expressed herself through her writing and painting. She was always looking forward to a new project.

She attended Robertson’s Chapel United Methodist Church and held fast to her faith and her belief that she would be with loved ones again.

Memorial donations may be made to Robertson’s Chapel UMC, 35 Delbert Rd., Savannah, TN 38372
