Mrs. Lenore Looney passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, December 21, 2013, at her son's home in Bolivar.
A native of Henderson, Mrs. Looney was long-time resident of Memphis before moving to Bolivar 4 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Emory L. and Esther S. Whitaker. A graduate of Treadwell High School in Memphis, she married Edgar H. Looney in May, 1940. Mr. Looney passed away on November 22, 1963.
While a resident of Memphis, she was a member of the Forest Hill Church of Christ (formerly known as Knight Arnold). She taught classes for the wives of students at the Memphis School of Preaching for 35 years and also taught Bible School Teacher Training Classes all over the United States and in several foreign countries. Since moving to Bolivar, Mrs. Looney was a member of the local Church of Christ, where her son, David, is the minister. She worked many years as Executive Secretary for Lincoln National Life Insurance Company in Memphis, retiring in 1985.
She leaves two daughters, Sherrill Wade of Foreman, AR and Esther Steele of Memphis; her son, David B. Looney and his wife, Kay, of Bolivar; 7 grandchildren, Gene, Frank and Chris Wade, Kim Ehrenkaufer, Brian Steele, Hope and Paige Looney; 5 great-grandchildren, Harley, Destiny and Brianna Wade, and Ashleigh and Ryan Brown; and three caregivers, Kay Cooper, Angela Mayberry and Catina Moore.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Looney was preceded in death by her sister, Myra Martin; her brother, E. L. Whitaker, Jr,; a son-in-law, Frank Wade; and two grandchildren, Roxanne and Rodney Wade.
