Leon Stanfield died on July 27, 2017 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 79 after a short battle with cancer.
Leon was born on August 16, 1937 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the third of four children. He graduated from Central High School in 1955, and served in the United States Army from April 1958 to March 1961. Leon was well known in Hardin County as a plumber and electrician, as well as the bass voice of the Crusaders gospel quarter. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and tinkering with tractors and different items. Leon had a generally entertaining and well-loved character.
Leon is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years; Joan (Blackwelder) Stanfield, his daughter Lori Stanfield of Caldwell, Idaho; sisters, Peggy Stricklin and Becky Shutt, both of Savannah, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Murell and Kate (Phillips) Stanfield and his brother, Tom Frank, all of Savannah, Tennessee.
