Leslie Tilley was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on October 9, 1931, the son of the late Leonard and Mamie Copeland Tilley.
Mr. Tilley worked at a Temple Chattanooga for 35 years. He had also worked as a logger and a trucker for the Pete McLin Logging Company, and had worked in farming for several years as well. He was a member of Turkey Creek Union Church in Savannah, and later attended Soul's Harvest Church in Savannah.
Leslie enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a fan of any kind of card game, especially Rook, and loved John Wayne movies. He loved talking to people and going to church, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his many grandchildren.
He departed this life on October 4, 2018 at his residence in Savannah, at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 25 days. He is survived by: a daughter, Lisa Tilley of Savannah, Tennessee; three sons, James L. Tilley and his wife Jannie of Colinwood, Tennessee, Jimmy Dale Tilley and his wife Linda of Rhodesville, Alabama, and Jerry Wayne Tilley of Lutts, Tennessee; a sister, Mary Sue Rust of Savannah, Tennessee; a brother, Lester Tilley of Cookville, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 sisters, Monedith Copeland and Louise Tilley Stricklin; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
