Funeral services for Lila Jo Rowland will be 2:00 PM Sunday July 27, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel in Henderson, TN. with burial to follow in Woodville Cemetery in Chester County. The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel Saturday July 26, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey Chapel.
Lila Jo Henson Rowland age 96 years and 29 days departed this life for her heavenly home on Thursday July 24, 2014 at her daughter’s home in the Woodville Community of Chester County.
She was born Tuesday June 25, 1918 to the late A.O. and Carrie Gee Henson. She married the love of her life Marvin Lee Rowland of the Palestine Community of Chester County on December 24, 1937. After 47 years of marriage her husband preceded her in death February 28, 1984.
They made their home in the Woodville Community where they farmed and reared their children. She worked at Salant & Salant in Henderson and ITT in Selmer for several years.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young adult and was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church.
She loved tending her garden and cooking for family and numerous friends.
In younger years she enjoyed sewing making clothing for her family. After retirement she quilted beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, a daughter, Carrie Dianne Clark and husband Ernest; three sons, Leon Wren Rowland and wife Bev, Joe Earl Rowland and wife Shirley and Eddie Prentice Rowland all of Woodville.
She leaves seven grandchildren, Stephen Rowland of Murfreesboro, Mark Rowland and wife Martha of Jacks Creek, Stephanie Rapp of Shelby County, Deborah Jo Moore and husband Joe of Medina, Joel Keith Rowland and wife Carol of Woodville, Carrie Wendy Clark (David) of Finger, Marva Lee Sanders and husband Randall of Woodville; seven great-grandchildren, Clark Massengill and wife Elacey, Carie Massengill, Clay Massengill and Caden Sanders, Kaycie Moore, Brandon Rowland and Kayla Rowland and two step great grandchildren, Shellby Sanders and Justin Sanders; several nieces and nephews and a special niece Joyce McMahan and a sister-in-law, Johnnie Henson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Janie Sue Crawford, and Myra Lee Henson; two brothers, Amo Henson and Paul Henson and a great-great grandchild, Levi Massengill.
