Lillie V. Littleton Ayers was born May 4, 1931 in Wayne County, TN, the daughter of the late Jasper James Franklin (Jess) Littleton and Nora Lee Woods Littleton. She was united in marriage to Ellis Edward Ayers on December 23, 1955 and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2013.
Mrs. Ayers was a homemaker at the time of her death but had worked at Genesco and Ray's Discount earlier in her life. She attended Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Iron City, Tennessee.
Mrs. Ayers departed this life on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Waynesboro Health and Rehab in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 3 Months, 30 Days.
She is survived by a son, Wade Matthews and wife, Lynn of Spring Hill, TN; grandsons, Eddie Matthews, wife, Alicia and Eric Matthews; great-grandchildren, Addison and Neyland Matthews; brothers, Crawford Littleton of Iron City, TN and Willie (Bill) Littleton of Loretto, TN; sisters, Ellean Harper, husband, Thurston, of Florence, AL and Mary Lee Marks of Lawrenceburg, TN and nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Danny Boy and Baby.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by a brother, T. A. Littleton and a sister, Elizabeth (Bootsy) Testerman.
Services will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Eddie Matthews, Eric Matthews and Edward Burbank officiating. Burial will follow in Railroad Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 11 am to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be J. C. Daniel, Danny Roberson, Danny McWilliams, Don Hale, Ricky Jackson and Tommy Beckham.
