Mrs. Hickman passed from this life on Thursday evening, January 16, 2014, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Hardeman County, she was a homemaker. She was born on November 16, 1921 to the late William Elmer Chandler and Dora Elizabeth Ervin Chandler. She is the widow of William Elwood Hatch who died in 1987 and E. L. Hickman, who died in May of 2011 and enjoyed sewing, gardening and going to yard sales. Her family states that she was a good cook. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School and VBS teacher for several years.
Survivors include two daughters, Delaine (John) Hackney of Hornsby and Lillian Abel of Bolivar; a son, Bill (Becky) Hatch of Bells; seven grandchildren, Janice (Alex) Johnson, Kimberly Hackney, Stacey (Daryl) Henson, John (Debbie) Abel, Tim (Ginny) Hatch, Brad (Kaitlyn) Hatch and Bethany (Ryan) Crouch; and six great grandchildren, Brooks Johnson, Anna Grace Johnson, Jacob Henson, Sophie Hatch, Jackson Abel and Peyton Abel. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Porter Boykin and Ruby Mae Baker; a brother, James Elton Chandler; a niece, Kathy Ann Baker and a nephew, Terry Elton Chandler. The family requests memorials be directed to Piney Grove Baptist Church.
