Loretta Skelton Burgess

F. Loretta Skelton Burgess was born June 12, 1947 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Obie K. Skelton and Bessie Whitehead Skelton Potete. Ms. Burgess attended the Waynesboro First Baptist Church and was a member of the Moccasin Creek Baptist Church in Waynesboro. She was an office manager for the Centerstone Mental Health Center in Waynesboro for over thirty years and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Ms Burgess departed this life on April 28, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 73 Years, 10 Months, 16 Days.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Burgess Jones, husband, Bobby of Waynesboro, TN; a brother, Virgil Skelton of Columbia, TN; sister, Joyce Tuverson of Mount Juliet, TN; two grandchildren, Candi (Jones) Luedeke, husband, Jesse, Mason Jones, wife, Becky of Lobelville, TN; four great-grandchildren, Isabel and Lana Luedeke of Waynesboro, TN and Ryleigh and Lukas Jones of Lobelville, TN; sisters-in-law, Connie Skelton and Anita Skelton both of Waynesboro, TN.

In addition to her parents, Ms Burgess was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Langford; brothers, Gerald Skelton and Jimmy C. Skelton; brother-in-law, Richard Tuverson and sister-in-law, Jo Evelyn Skelton.

Services will be held on April 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Jeff Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne County Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Friday, April 30, 2021 from 8:00 am until the service time with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
