Lottie Mae Head Ray was born April 23, 1939 in Pocahontas, TN the daughter of the late Daniel and Gladys Deming Head.
She was united in marriage to Basil Eugene Ray on May 14, 1957. Mr. Ray preceded her in death on April 24, 2018, following 60 years of marriage.
Mrs. Ray was formerly employed in retail sales and production. She loved tending her flowers; she would gather plants from different places she visited and could always make them grow. Drinking Maxwell House coffee was one of her daily pleasures, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends, whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Ray never forgot a birthday, and took a great interest in people and their family history. She was a member of the American Legion Post 162 Ladies' Auxiliary and the Eastside church of Christ.
Mrs. Ray departed this life on April 15, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 11 Months, 23 Days. She is survived by three daughters: Diane (Ray) Taylor and husband Bob of Pocahontas, TN, Kathy Jean Essary and husband Gary of Corinth, MS, and Jennifer (Ray) Smith and husband Randy of Pocahontas, TN; two sons, Tony Ray and wife Trish of Pocahontas, TN and Keena Ray and wife Vicki of Corinth, MS; eleven grandchildren: Chris Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Kelly Essary, Geana Essary, Holley Slaughter, Ryan Smith, Jack Smith, Krista Ray, Melissa Stevens, Ashley Stolz, and Jarrett Wildmon; 20 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Doris Roberts of Selmer, TN, Francis Byrd of Memphis, TN, Carolyn Barclay of Ramer, TN, and Mary Grammer of Pocahontas, TN; a special lifelong friend, Johnnie Osborne of Ramer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Dustin Cody Ray and Jonathan Tyler Ray; and a brother, James Head.
THERE WILL BE A DRIVE THROUGH VIEWING FOR MRS. RAY AT FALCON CEMETERY IN SELMER ON SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH BEGINNING AT 11:00 AM AND CONTINUING UNTIL 1:00 PM. THE PUBLIC MAY PARTICIPATE, BUT PARTICIPANTS MUST ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF THE FAMILY, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PARK YOUR VEHICLE IN THE CEMETERY OR EXIT YOUR VEHICLE. YOU WILL DRIVE THROUGH THE CEMETERY AND PAY YOUR RESPECTS TO MRS. RAY AND HER FAMILY FROM YOUR VEHICLE. AN ATTENDANT WILL LIST YOUR NAME IN THE REGISTER BOOK AND YOU WILL BE OFFERED A MEMORIAL FOLDER AS A KEEPSAKE.
