Lou Ann Suddreth

July 15, 1954 — February 10, 2019

July 15, 1954 – February 10, 2019

Lou Ann Suddreth was born July 15, 1954, in St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. The daughter of the late David Cooper Suddreth and the late Alice Faye Mainers Suddreth.

Lou Ann was blessed to have attended the one-room school house in Deanburg, Tennessee, during some of her early years. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1972 when she moved to Dallas and began her business career with Kemper Insurance then Allianz Investment Company. She continued her business career on the West Coast in San Francisco, California. Then moving to the East Coast and graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York in 1996. She immediately began her design career as a designer for Wyndham Hotels where she designed fabulous interiors all over the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe. In 1999 she began her own design business in Dallas with her sister Mary Ellen by launching Sisters Design of Dallas, which continues 20 years later.

During a high school reunion in 2010 (38 years later), Lou Ann reconnected with her high school classmate developing a relationship with the love of her life and now fiancé, David Thompson.

Lou Ann passed unexpectedly from this life on Sunday morning, February 10, 2019, when God opened his arms and exclaimed “You have completed your work here on earth, you made me so very proud, it is now time for you to come home”.

She was very proud of her American Indian heritage and her family military service dating back to the civil war. She worked endlessly on tracing and documenting her family ancestry.

To say Lou Ann was a patriot would be an understatement. She was proud of her country, all who defended it, her Presidents and her flag. Any notion of not standing and placing a hand on the heart was dishonorable. She was proud of her right to bear arms and defend herself and her country.

Lou Ann’s unwavering faith in God and heaven was a strong presence throughout her life. God, country and family were the strong bonds in her short-lived life. Her unconditional love for all those close to her was never ending…she lived for what she could do for others.

Any uncommon spare time was devoted to donating her time to people in need, volunteering with the American Red Cross during disasters and teaching adults to read.

She had a love for the water, oceans and the seas and loved adventure. She loved gardening and all seeds planted flourished. With being a cheerleader in her school days her long-standing love for her Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns began. She loved animals and will be eternally missed by Daisy Mae, her sister’s West Highland Terrier. A place that can never be filled again. She was met at the gates of heaven by her Golden Retriever, Bear, and the two Yorkshire Terriers, Nicky and Angel.

Lou Ann is survived by her fiancé David Thompson of Austin, Texas, sister, Mary Ellen Suddreth Kyle and husband, Tory Syvrud of Dallas, Texas, brother Danny Hugh Suddreth and wife, Donna Suddreth of Copperas Cove, Texas, aunt, Shirley Jo Mainers and uncle, Clifton Edward Mainers both of Deanburg, Tennessee, Mary Louise McKinnie of Lakeland, Tennessee, five cousins Tammy Thomas and husband Jerry, Sonia Thomas and husband Doug, Tonya Brittain and husband Bobby, Patsy Furr and husband Charles and Debbie McKinnie all of Tennessee. She is survived by her third cousins Phylis Wujs and Tommy Forrester of Hazen, Arkansas, and Kaye Park of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is also survived by Cynthia Thompson and Donna and Micki Broach all of Rockport, Texas.
