Mrs. Louise Breeden, age 96, of Bolivar, departed this life Friday morning, August 15, 2014 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of Kenneth Tate Breeden, who died on July 22, 1993, after 51 years of marriage, she was retired from First Federal Savings and Loan in Bolivar. She was born April 29, 1918, in McNairy County, daughter of the late Spencer George Richards and Verbal Elizabeth Dunaway Richards and lived for 68 years on Jones St in Bolivar. She had previously worked in Memphis for the Sears Company until her husband got out of the service, at which point they moved to Bolivar. Among her hobbies were working with her flowers, especially her roses and azaleas, being the #1 fan for the University of Memphis basketball team, having never missing a game, shopping for shoes and playing rook with church members. Her family states that she loved her family and was a great mom, teaching them how to love family and friends. Mrs. Breeden was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Sounds Choir at the church.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Pettigrew (Mark) of Bolivar and Ann Lowry (CC) of St. Charles, MO; two sisters, Jo Castlemann (Owen) of Lakeland, FL and Irma Gooch of Selmer; four grandchildren, Erin Costello, John Lowry, Eric and Kyle Pettigrew; and one great grandchild, Megan Costello. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman and Clyde Richards. The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. Breeden's name be sent to the Homebound Ministry supported by the Bolivar First Baptist and First United Methodist Churches in Bolivar.
