Mrs. Pirtle, age 89, of Bolivar, departed this life on Sunday morning, July 31, 2022, at Christian Care Center in Bolivar.
The daughter of the late B. A. and Irene Moss Ervin, she was a life-long resident of Hardeman County and graduate of Bolivar Central High School. Mrs. Pirtle retired in 1989 as a dietary supervisor at Western Mental Health Institute where she served for over 30 years.
She was married to the late Claude Sherrel Pirtle on November 12, 1963. Mr. Pirtle passed away on June 22, 2005 following over 41 years of marriage. Mrs. Pirtle was a member of Parrans Chapel Baptist Church teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, crafts and cooking having been known to many as "The Cake Lady".
She leaves one brother, Huey (Ann) Ervin of Bolivar; two nieces/adopted daughters, Paula (Tony) Terry of Jackson and Kay (Tommy) Zawacki of Toone; two great-nephews/adopted grandsons, Ryan (Ashley) Zawacki of Toone and Ben (Courtney) Zawacki of Standish, ME; six great-great-adopted grandchildren, Will, Tate and Harper Zawacki of Toone and Levi, Elet and Theo Zawacki of Standish, ME; nieces and nephews, Donna (Jerry) Mayfield of Bolivar, Rita (Frankie) Kee of Oakland, Steve and Randy Ervin of Bolivar, Bradley Mayfield of Bolivar, Sherridan (David) Hodge of Toone, Clayton Ervin of Bolivar, Ashley and Becky Ervin of Bolivar, Beth (Tim) Smith of Middleton, Kaitlyn Smith of Middleton and Jamie (Tana) Smith of Alma, GA; caregivers, Lucy Spencer, Liz Harris, Kriston Sain and Starla Perry; and her beloved cat, "Callie".
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pearline Cupples; and two brothers, Eugene and Jimmy Ervin.
