Mart Vaught, 84, of Grand Junction, TN, passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home.
He was born April 30, 1936 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Mart G. and Iris Wright Vaught. Mr. Vaught served in the US Navy between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a police officer for 6 years in Lawton, OK prior to becoming a US Marshall for 15 years. He moved to Hardeman County, TN in 1983 when he became employed at the Ames Plantation as a Herdsman. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Vaught loved working with cattle and his special dogs, particularly "Tippy." He was married to Lynn Parham of Grand Junction, October 3, 1986 and they attended the First United Methodist Church of Grand Junction.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 sons, Mike Vaught of Oklahoma City, OK, Norman McCrone and wife Leslie of Barlett, Robert McCrone and wife Tammy of Grand Junction and Cory McCrone and wife Julia of Slayden, MS; a sister Iolene Callahan and husband Bob of Omaha, NE; a sister-in-law Nancy Vaught of Edmond, OK; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Vaught and a son Joseph McCrone. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Grand Junction First United Methodist Church at 138 Tippah St. S. When attending visitation or services for Mr. Vaught, please consider the following guidelines:
* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
