Martha Bess Ashe

Martha Bess Ashe was born May 18, 1939 in Selmer, TN the daughter of the late Estell and Vadell Hicks Locke.

She was united in marriage to Charles Dee Ashe on August 11, 1956.

Mrs. Ashe graduated from Selmer High School in 1957. She worked for Levi Strauss retiring after 24 years of service. She was affectionately known to everyone as Memaw. In her younger years, sewing was a favorite hobby.
She spread her love to all of her family, whether it was a good home cooked meal or sending jars of her love home with them. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, and canning. She loved doing crossword and word search. She was a member of Union Grove Methodist Church.

Mrs. Ashe departed this life on March 22, 2019 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 79 Years, 10 Months, 4 Days. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Dee Ashe of Selmer, TN; a son, David Wayne Ashe and wife Cathy Collene of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren, Steven Audrey Ashe and wife Morgan of Selmer, TN, Chelsey Collene Schueller and husband Colin of Fort Belvoir, VA; four great grandchildren, Levi David Ashe, Tyler Audrey Ashe, Addilyn Elizabeth Deane Ashe, Lucy Collene Schueller; three sisters, Ruby (Locke) Mathis and husband Owen of Selmer, TN, Jimmie (Locke) Crowe of Selmer, TN, Kay (Locke) Massingill of Ramer, TN; a brother, Dwight Locke and wife Freda of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ashe was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Jo Locke, Brenda (Locke) Derryberry, and Betty (Locke) Horton.
