Marvin Whitley

Marvin Whitley was born September 11, 1934 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Jake and Ether Wardlow Whitley.

He was united in marriage to Bessie Durbin on August 25, 1958. Mrs. Whitley preceded him in death on September 29, 2013.

Mr. Whitley was co-owner of the family business, McNairy County Construction. He had also farmed in Portageville, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing (and winning at) marbles, cards and checkers. He attended Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Stantonville, Tennessee.

Mr. Whitley departed this life on March 20, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 85 Years, 6 Months, 9 Days. He is survived by children, Carolyn Mehr and husband Tommy of Stantonville, TN, Sandra Whitley of Selmer, TN, Neal Whitley and wife Heather of Selmer, TN, Karen Holland and husband Brent of Adamsville, TN; two sisters, Sabra Wilbanks of Stantonville, TN, Judy McMahan of Selmer, TN; two brothers, Harold Whitley of Selmer, TN, Deedy Whitley of Selmer, TN; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Huggins and husband Chris, Katie Moore and husband Josh, Scott Whitley and wife Melanie, Patrick Howard and wife Jennifer, Kristi Court and husband Joseph, Sarah Duncan and husband Daniel, Jake Whitley, Laura Lee Whitley, Natalie Holland, Ben Holland; thirteen great grandchildren, Chelsea King, Will King, Chance Knight, J.T, Howard, Emma Howard, Jaycee Howard, Jace Howard, Jimmie Michael Floyd, Bella Grace Jaco, JennaBelle Howard, Nealee Kait Moore, Jonah Whitley, Jude Whitley plus two on the way;and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew (Bo) Whitley, William Ross Whitley; a sister, Ether Pearl Jordan.

IN RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR LEE’S EXECUTIVE ORDER 17, WHICH TOOK EFFECT AT 12:01 AM MARCH 23, 2020, THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VISITATIONS OR SERVICES THROUGH APRIL 5, 2020.
