Mrs. Marcum passed away Wednesday morning, December 12, 2018, at her home in Bolivar, TN.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Charlene Marcum of Bolivar; grandson, Jeff Marcum (Jennifer) of Bolivar; four sisters, Nell Rose Stanfield of Texas, Jessica Sharkey of Bolivar, Barbara Brown Martin (Joe) of Nashville and Martha Sadlak (Gary) of Bolivar; and two brothers, Brad Vandiver (Barbara) of Jackson and Larry Vandiver (Merita) of Bolivar.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Levoy Marcum; her son, Curtis Levoy Marcum; her parents, James Wesley and Frances Pope Vandiver; her step-mother, Minnie Morris Vandiver; a brother, Donald Vandiver; and a sister, Charlene Rindels.
Mrs. Marcum was a native and life-long resident of Hardeman County. She married Mr. Marcum on June 20, 1949 and he was deceased on July 2, 1990. She was primarily a homemaker, but also had worked at Kilgore Corporation in Toone for 10 years.
Mrs. Marcum was widely known as the "Pie Lady" for her ability to make delicious pies especially chocolate. She was always busy doing something whether it was quilting in the winters, bird watching, canning, cooking, gardening or just being outdoors. She served as her neighborhood "baby-sitter" and was never without a pitcher of Kool-Aid and some cookies for the children. Mrs. Marcum was a member of the Dixie Hills Baptist Church.
