Mary Geneva Bevill, 84, of Middleton, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon at McNairy County Healthcare in Selmer.
She was the daughter of the late Dalton and Pearl Mynatt Flake and a life-long resident of Hardeman County. The widow of James Luther Bevill, who died in May, 2000, she was a homemaker and also had worked at Jervis in Bolivar for 6-8 years.
Mrs. Bevill was a member of Cypress Middleton Pentecostal Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, taking care of her chickens, sewing her own clothes, quilts and pillows and canning. A shy and quiet person by nature, she was tender-hearted and loved to read the Bible. She received a certificate at her church for having read it through in a year.
Her survivors include three daughters, Margaret (L. C.) McKelvey and Mary (Robbie Robertson) Wilbanks, both of Middleton and Gladys (C. B.) Gates of Ripley, MS; one sister, Eula Fae Hodge of Pocahontas; four grandchildren, April Gayle McKelvey, Jeannie Wilbanks, Roger Joe Lambert, and Jack McLain; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylie Carter, Hunter Carter and Joseph McLain.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bevill was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie McLain; three grandchildren, Angela Carter, Teresa Carlene Lambert and Roger David Wilbanks; one sister, Ruby Mae Hodge; and one brother, Nace Flake.
