Mary Sue Howell, age 82, of Toone, departed this life Friday, November 2, 2018 at Henderson Healthcare.
The widow of Slater Elmo Howell, who died in 2005 after 52 years of marriage, she formerly worked in a factory, but was best known as being a loving mother, wife, grandmother and cook, famous for her pies that she made. She was born Tuesday, April 7, 1936 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late James Anderson Stack and Lessie Savannah Mayfield Stack and lived most of her life here except for a short time in Missouri. She enjoyed flower gardening and was said to have had a 'green thumb' with anything she grew. She will be remembered for being a friend to and loving everyone that met her. Mrs. Howell was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Donna Tyson (Randy) of Toone and Pat Rowland (Ricky) of Henderson; several nieces & nephews whom she loved and were very special to her; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Lambert in 2017; 5 brothers, Thomas Randolph Stack, Gilbert Aron Stack, James Eugene Stack, Wendell Anderson Stack and Hollis Wain Stack; a sister, Dorothy Lee Stack Riley; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Memorial donations in her name may be sent to Silerton Baptist Cemetery.
