Vera Maude Davis, nee Franks, age 89, one of seventeen children, born February 7, 1925 in Corinth, Miss., died March 22, 2014 at her home, in O’Fallon, Ill., surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Davis had worked for SealMaster-Emerson Electric in Aurora, Ill. She moved from Florence, Ala., to Plainfield, Ill., in 2005, and later to O’Fallon, Ill. She attended Baptist church where her husband was a deacon. Her family meant the world to her. She enjoyed gardening and canning her own vegetables, and everyone loved her strawberry fluff pie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Travis Davis, in 1997; her children Nadine V. Davis and Lavon Davis, her parents Jessie and Ida, nee Heath, Franks; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her children Garry (Mary Lou) Davis of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathy Davis of Hazel Green, Ala., Tim (Angie) Davis, of O’Fallon, Ill., James Davis, of Naperville, Ill., and daughter-in-law Myra Davis of Plainfield, Ill.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Carey Williams, Sherry Thomas, Lavonna (Vincent Honn) Thomas, Jason Thomas, Bryan (Jennifer) Davis, Stephanie Davis, Michael (Debra) Kingham, Sara (Andrew) Leitner, Gabriel and Jeremiah Davis; and many great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
