Mavis Stanfill Crotts departed this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 12 days. She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Alice Stanfill Durham. On November 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to J. Porter Crotts, who preceded her in death on December 11, 2012.
Mavis had lived in Hardin County for most of her life and was co-owner of Fisherman's Warf Restaurant for 25 years. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and was a Eastern Star. Working puzzles, reading,sewing, gardening, and flowers, were just some of the things she enjoyed.
Mavis is survived by her sons, Bobby A. Crotts and his wife Nancy of Gallatin, Tennessee, Jimmy L. Crotts and his wife Debra, and Kenneth D. Crotts and his wife Donna, all of Savannah, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Norma Leggett and her husband Don of Jackson, Tennessee; and a brother, Durrelle Durham and his wife Carolyn of Germantown, Tennessee.
In addition to her mother and husband, Mavis was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Crotts Thomasson and a brother, Dewight Durham.
