MAYE YOUNG GOODWIN

Maye Young Goodwin age 98, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022.

Mrs. Goodwin was the daughter of Hugh C and Luvenia Young, born August 19, 1923. She was married to Paul Goodwin for 45 years until his death in 1986. They resided in the Cabo Community until she was no longer able to remain at home. For the last six years she has spent six months in Mississippi with her daughter, Paulette, and six months in Florida with her daughter, Linda. She is survived by her daughters, Paulette Watson-Greer and Linda (Jay) Johnson; four grandchildren, (Loretta (Al) Ainsworth), Kevin Watson, Brent (Tori) Johnson, Bryan (Susan) Johnson; twelve great grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters, one of whom was born on her birthday in 2019; and four special nieces and three nephews.

She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul, an infant daughter, three brothers, two sisters, and two son-in-laws, Roy Watson and Thomas Greer. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Mrs. Goodwin loved to garden and take care of her yard and to crochet. She worked at Salant & Salant for many years but her favorite job was being a foster grandparent to children at Jacks Creek Elementary School.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Dr. James Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday.
