MAYRENE ESSARY
Milledgeville, TN: Mayrene Benson Essary age 89 passed away April 11, 2019 at Maplewood Health Care Center in Jackson.
She was born January 25, 1930 in the Reagan Community of Chester County, grew up in Chicago and Enville, the daughter of the late Evans Benson and Lena Tidwell Benson who died when Mayrene was two years old. She was raised by her step-mother Minnie Spencer Benson.
She attended Chester County Schools and went to beautician school at Jackson and Savannah. She married Maxwell Essary in 1948 and they made their home at Enville. Mrs. Essary was a homemaker and operated a beauty shop at Enville and later in her home. She was a member of the Milledgeville United Methodist Church.
She moved to Jackson in 2006 to make her home closer to her daughter. She loved her dog Be Bee. She was always willing to help people out, carry them to the doctor or cook food for the sick, sitting with people who were sick, or help out in any way she could. Mr. Essary died in 2004.
She is survived by a daughter Annette Conaway and husband Jim of Jackson and preceded in death by two sons; Max Larry Essary and Jackie Lynn Essary.
She is also survived by a granddaughter, Courtney Milillo and husband Sergio of Jackson, three grandchildren; Alley and Abby Voss and Lucas Milillo, four brothers; J. W. Benson, Jerry Benson, and Johnny Benson all of Reagan, and David Benson of Decatur, AL and three sisters; Marie Benson of Reagan, Mildred Bivens of Sardis, and Zula Bailey of Henderson. She was preceded in death by brothers Frank, Warren, and D.C. Benson, and Raymond and Cecil Smith and sisters; Olidean Kennedy and Mary Neil Benson Cherry.
She was preceded in death by her father, her mother and stepmother, her husband, Maxwell Essary in 2004 and two sons, and brothers, Frank, Warren, and D.C. Benson, and Raymond and Cecil Smith and sisters; Olidean Kennedy and Mary Neil Benson Cherry.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at the Milledgeville United Methodist Church with Jimmy Dyer and Bobby Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at the Benson Family Cemetery near Reagan.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors East Main from 4:00PM until 7:00PM Friday evening and from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at the Milledgeville Methodist Church.
