Mrs. Melba Bass, age 88 of Middleton, Tennessee, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 6, 2018 at Bolivar General Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Hardeman County, Mrs. Bass was born Friday, February 14, 1930 in Middleton, Tennessee to the late Wesley and Ethel Ray Lowrance. On Thursday, May 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Mr. Ulus Olion Bass, who preceded her in death on January 24, 2002.
She worked for Harman Automotive for 32 years prior to her retirement in 1998. She was a faithful member of the Porters Creek Baptist Church and loved fellowshipping with her church family. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters, cooking, and working in the yard, and she loved spending time with her grandkids.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Campbell and husband Jerry of Middleton, and Carolyn Owens and husband Joseph of Savannah; four grandchildren, Darlene Waller of Jackson, Dwayne Howell (Tee) of Hornsby, Heather Jordan (Matt) of Charlotte, NC, and Monica Yopp (Jon) of Selmer; one stepgrandchild, Lisa Deming of Brownsville; ten great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jessie Lowrance and Tommy Lowrance; and four sisters, Ida Foster, Lucille Prince, Bessie Moody and Pearl Powell.
