Merle Rains, 71, of Walnut, departed this life Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.
The husband of Mary Ann Burnett Rains, who survives, he worked 37 years in the grocery business, afterward running a rural metro ambulance, and retiring in 2012 at age 62. He was born May 13, 1950, in Shelby County, son of the late Vernon Rains and Beatrice Stone Rains, moving to Walnut in 2013 from Memphis. He enjoyed playing guitar and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, blues and rock and roll, and watching television, but received his greatest enjoyment from being around his family whom he dearly loved. Mr. Rains was Baptist in faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Rains, whom he married on June 1, 1992; two sons, Brad and David Rains; a stepson, Geoffrey Arnwine of Forsyth, MO; and a brother, Robert "Rob" Rains of Murfeesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Rains. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Porters Creek Baptist Church.
