Michael Russ Gambrell

Michael Russ Gambrell of Iron City, TN was born October 21, 1962 in Florence, AL, the son of Earlene Daniel Gambrell of Waynesboro, TN, who survives and the late Russell Gambrell. He was united in marriage to the former Brenda Kay Pruett on February 6, 1981.

Michael was a maintenane director at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation. He was a member of the Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Iron City, Tennessee but attended McGlamery Church, Collinwood, TN and enjoyed playing music and singing and farming.

Michael departed this life on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 59 Years, 6 Months, 23 Days after a brief illness.

Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay Pruett Gambrell, Iron City, TN; sons, Christopher Russ Gambrell, wife, Alisha, Westpoint, TN and Brandon Michael Gambrell, Iron City, TN; grandchildren, Jimma Ruth, Tenlee Kay, Henry Michael and Charlie Nelson Gambrell.

In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by a sister, Vicky Kay Gambrell.

Services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Stacey Holt and John E. Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Hollis Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Roger Butler, Jerry Butler, Doug Lee, Tim Powell, Larry Miller and John David Sherrill.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Monday, May 16, 2022 from 11 am to service time at 1 pm at the funeral home.
