Mildred Shearin Cossar

Mrs. Cossar passed from this life on Saturday morning, June 8, 2019 at Christian Care Center of Memphis.

A native of Benton County, MS, she was the daughter of the late Charles Marcus Shearin and Sarah Bell Dixon Shearin. She was a member of Scenic Hill Baptist Church in Memphis. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years on February 6, 2014, James “Mack” Cossar.

Mildred was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren and loved her role as “Nannie”. Mildred loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend with her family was important to her. She was an avid gardener and animal lover. Her compassion for others and sweet personality will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She leaves 2 daughters Charlene Galloway and husband, Ernest, of Germantown, TN, Pat Creech and husband, Jerry, of Cordova, and her son James Cossar and wife (preceded in death), Susan Cossar; two sisters, Peggy Garner of Fisherville, TN, and Laverne Clayton of Fisherville, TN; her grandchildren, Ashley Caruso and husband, Bob, of Jacksonville, FL, Jeremy Galloway and wife, Mackenzie, of Memphis, preceded in death by her granddaughter, Krystal Cossar, and 2 great-grandsons, Remington and August Galloway.

Her family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Christian Care Center and her attentive and loving caregiver, Bettie Love.
