Mildred Carroll Whitten was born February 4, 1939 in Tipton County, TN the daughter of the late James Ernest and Mattie Lorene Glover Carroll.
She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Whitten on September 5, 1970. Mr. Whitten preceded her in death on December 19, 2001 following 31 years of marriage.
Mrs. Whitten worked on the plumbing line at Aqua Glass in Adamsville for 15 years. She was also employed in the meat department and as a stocker for Food Giant Grocery in Selmer. Baking bread and sweets was a favorite pastime and one at which she was very talented-her sourdough bread was considered among the best by those whose privilege it was to enjoy. Mrs. Whitten volunteered her time with the "Meals on Wheels" program and Selmer Senior Center, and was a faithful member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church family, whom she loved dearly.
Mrs. Whitten departed this life on August 15, 2020 in Lexington, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 6 Months, 11 Days. She is survived by a son, Tim Hinson of Jackson, TN; a daughter, Brenda Hatley of Waverly, TN; three grandchildren: Mike Ferri of Lexington, TN, Clay Hinson of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Kyle Hinson of Huron, TN; two sisters, Kathy of Millington, TN and Linda of Orlando, FL; and two brothers.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by a sister, Betty.
