Neva Reeves Himes

Neva Reeves Himes, lovingly known as Nana, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 1, 2018. Nana was born December 23, 1921 to the late Willie Oscar Reeves and Etta Mae (Melson) Reeves. She was predeceased by her brother Douglas Oscar Reeves, grandson Daryl Eric Cohen, son-in-law Delbert Lee Pennington, nieces Janetta Dial and Karen Brewer, and nephew Jackie Dial. Nana is survived by her loving children Jan Pennington, Barbara (Veachel) Jackson, Beverly McCormick, and Billy (Joyce) Hall. Her special grandchildren Chip (Terry) Pennington, Jill (Shane) Marion, Joy Villagomez, Steven Cohen, Jayme McCormick, James Russell McCormick, Darrin (Megan) Hall, Brandon Hall, and Morgan Hall. Her cherished great grandchildren Ryan, Dylan (Dasha), and Jordyn Marion, Erica Drew, Aubrie Cohen, Joshua and Jessica Ehrengruber, Ashleigh White, Julia and Coley Villagomez, Samantha, Melissa, and Michael Williams, and a very special great great grandson Shawn Drew. Neva is also survived by her dear sister June Dial and sister-in-law Juanita Reeves, her nieces Brenda Reed, Carol Daniel and Cynthia Myer, her nephews Johnny, Robert, and Ricky Dial and Joey Reeves. Neva spent her childhood and teen years in Collinwood, TN. She moved to Virginia in 1954. She lived in Florida and Maryland, and returned to Woodbridge in 1992 to spend her latter years. Neva retired from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and enjoyed herself by taking care of her great grandchildren. They were the lights of her life. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Capitol Caring team for their service and dedication. A special thank you to Maria, Shelly, Linda, Forde, and Chaplain Connors. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 15, 2018 with the service at 12 noon in Neva’s hometown of Collinwood, TN, where she will be laid to rest with family in Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by John Dial and directed by Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Delbert Lee Pennington, Jr., James Russell McCormick, Darrin Reeves Hall and great-grandsons, Ryan Daniel Marion, Dylan Cole Marion, Dennis Cole Villagomez. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made in Neva’s name to Capitol Caring, 5845 Richmond Highway, Suite 150, Alexandria, VA 22303.
