Mrs. Hester departed from this life on Monday morning, May 23, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widow of Mr. Babe Allen Hester who passed away July 16, 2016, she was born Thursday, June 24, 1937 in Trinity, TX to the late Fate and Nova Leona Treat Gates. She and Mr. Hester were married 61 years following their union on Saturday, May 28, 1955. The family moved to Hardeman County in March, 2008 from Houston, TX.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shannon Bishop on January 17, 2017; two sisters, Hazel Warren and Mary Janes Allen; and three brothers, Elvis, Harvey and Foster Gates.
Mrs. Hester was a retired floral designer with Braeswood Florist in Houston where she worked for 20 years. She was a faithful member of Middleton First Baptist Church where she not only worshipped God but loved her church family as well. She liked to sing and, as a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Houston, she was a part of the Silver Seniors singing group. She also enjoyed cooking, flowers and the great joy and love she found in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her daughter, Annah Cagle of Middleton; her grandchildren, Daniel (Mary Ann) Cagle, Sarah (Coty) Taylor and grandson-in-law, Michael Bishop; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hunter Taylor.
