Opal Avent LeCroix, age 84 of Bolivar, passed away Thursday night at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
She was born Saturday, July 29, 1933, to the late William Alex Carter and Dessie King Carter in Hardeman County, TN. On December 29, 1971, she married Samuel Frank Avent, who passed away on January 10, 2000. In 2005, she married William LeCroix of Christiana, TN.
Opal was a cosmetologist, working with Western Mental Health Institute for 25 years and her own shop in Hornsby. She was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church, where she would go on Senior Citizen trips and sing with the Golden Sounds. She enjoyed collecting jewelry, dolls, antique glass, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Hardeman County, until 2005, when she moved to Christiana.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Crawford of Shelbyville, TN; her husband, William LeCroix of Christiana, TN; four grandchildren, Cindi and Ali Vincent of Shelbyville, TN, Carres Crawford of Unionville, TN, and Brandi Morton of Shelbyville, TN; and a great-grandchild, Riley Crawford of Unionville, TN.
In addition to Mr. Avent and her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Linnie Cleek, Ruth Davis, Grapel Hampton and Pearl Frye; and three brothers, Raymond, Leroy and Billy Carter.
