Mrs. Opal Sipes Janes, age 96 of Bolivar, Tennessee, departed this life Friday morning, December 22, 2017 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar.
She was born Saturday, May 28, 1921 in Bolivar to the late William Thomas Fish and Cora Mandonia Donaldson Fish and lived her whole life in Hardeman County. On Thursday, February 22, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Calvin Sipes, who preceded her in death, Sunday, August, 14, 1988. Also preceding her were two sons, J. T. and Jerry Sipes; a grandson, J. T. Sipes, Jr.; three sisters, Cleo Harbin, Neola Wiggs and Vadine Booth; and three brothers, Wesley, Raymond and Lavern Fish.
Mrs. Janes worked in housekeeping at Bolivar General Hospital for many years and was a member of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship in Bolivar. A servant to many, she stayed busy caring for others. She was devoted to all her family and enjoyed sociable time with friends and family. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, hand crafts and listening to live music.
She leaves six grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Rini of Southington, CT, Jason (Beverlee) Sipes of Newington, CT, Amanda (Rusty) Baker of Middleton, Candice (Andrew) Brown of Lufkin, TX, Charity Ragsdale of Wells, MS and Summer Crutchfield of Brownsville; and numerous great-grandchildren.
