OWEN MCKINNEY
Pinson, TN: Owen Edward McKinney age 85 passed away July 15, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born July 23, 1934 in Sale Creek, TN the son of the late James Arlen and Elizabeth Aslinger McKinney. He went to school at Sale Creek. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, serving abroad the USS Oriskany. He married Doris McKinney in 1965 and they made their home in California for three years and moved to Pinson in 1968. He worked his adult career in home construction.
He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, serving on a lot of committees at the church. He was an original member of the Labours Quartet.
He enjoyed gospel music , farming, fishing, and camping with his family.
Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife, Doris Bain McKinney of Pinson; five sons, Garey Gaugh (Debbie) of Beech Bluff, Thomas Gaugh, Sr. (Teresa) of Pinson, Lee Gaugh (Diane) of Jackson, Neil Gaugh (Lori) of Henderson and Curt McKinney (Paula) of Pinson; a daughter, Darla Gaugh of Pinson; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; a brother, Creed McKinney (Nadine) of Richmond, VA and two sisters, Betty Chester of Dayton and Nora King (Duke) of Sale Creek, TN .
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Friendship Cemetery Fund: 720 New Friendship Road, Beech Bluff, TN 38313.
Due to the covid 19 situation the family will have a private funeral service and committal.
