Mr. Parnell Jackson, age 87 of Middleton, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 1, 2019 at his home.
Parnell was born April 3, 1932, son of the late Q. T. Jackson and Elorene McKinnie Jackson in Hardeman County, where he lived his entire life. On Saturday, March 3, 1956, he was united in marriage Bernell Hudson Jackson, who survives.
He was a security guard at Western Mental Health Institute for 28 years, and also worked as a logger and cattle farmer. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific during the Korean Conflict. His family states that his 'enjoyment' came from working, especially on his farm and with his cattle. He was a member of Hebron Baptist church where he had served as an usher coordinator.
Services were 2 pm Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar with John Kirk and Mac Lowry officiating. Burial was in Hebron Cemetery.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, survivors include two daughters, Nancy White (Tom) and Vickie Rainey, both of Middleton; two sons, J. D. Howell (Barbara) of Pocahontas, and Billy Jackson (Mary Nell) of Middleton; five sisters, Dorothy Vickers and Frankie Webb, both of Middleton, Judy McAlpin of Bolivar, Sarah McCord of South Carolina, and Martha Alice Moore of Springfield, TN; nine grandchildren, Rusty Baker, Shannon Baker, Andy White, Amber Stanfield, Derek Howell, Dwana Cranford, Holly Crook, Zach Jackson and Shelby Webster; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh and John Jackson.
