MARCUS KELLEY
Pinson, TN: Pastor Marcus DeWayne Kelley, age 48, passed away November 23, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born August 19, 1972 in Perry, GA, the son of Sandra Faye Ogletree Cole and the late Jimmy DeWayne Kelley. He grew up in Jackson, TN and graduated from Southside High School in 1991. He joined the Marines right after graduation and served four years.
He met Alicia Lynn Cregger in December 1995. They married on November 14, 1997. He worked in a machine shop for a few years and also began ministering in a contemporary Christian singing group, Saul to Paul, and then became a bivocational youth Pastor at Old Friendship Baptist Church. His first pastorate was at Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. He eventually came to Pinson on January 1, 2017 serving as Pastor of Grace Baptist Church. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Union University and also Luther Rice University. He completed a Master of Religion Degree at Luther Rice in 2019.
He liked Tennessee Football and loved spending most of his time with his family and serving in the ministry of Christ.
Pastor Kelley is survived by his wife, Alicia Lynn Cregger Kelley of Pinson; a son, Marcus DeWayne Kelley, II of Pinson and a daughter, Amber Rose Kelley of Pinson; his mother, Sandra Faye Ogletree Cole of Palemetto, GA; three brothers, Michael Kelley (Angel) of Pinson, Stephen Crofford of Medina and Tyler Kelley of Dellwood, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy DeWayne Kelley.
Funeral services will 2:00 PM Saturday, November 28th at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Coleman officiating. There will be a private family interment at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday service time.
