Paul E. Bedwell was born on May 12, 1932 in Tigrett, Tennessee, the son of the late Hurshel and Lucille Bedwell. On May 22, 1959, he was united in marriage Sally Larise Long, who survives.
Paul honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from June 12, 1951 until June 11, 1955. During his time in the service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. In 1956, Paul worked at Central High School as a Crossing Guard Director and the Savannah City Police for 6 months, before he went on to become a Lieutenant Trooper for the Tennessee Highway Patrol - Memphis Division, where he worked until his retirement in 1983. Paul was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church in Counce, Tennessee and loved camping and fishing.
Paul departed this life on Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 87 years, 7 months, 14 days.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sally Larise Bedwell of Counce, Tennessee; daughter, Susan Simmons and her husband Wilburn of Cordova, Tennessee; step children, Dr. James G. Barnett and his wife Barbara of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Ann Underwood of Millington, Tennessee, Benny Barnett of Millington, Tennessee, and Kay Anderson of Oakland, Tennessee, sister, Sherry Cromwell of Grapevine, Texas, grandaughter, Amanda Simmons of Cordova, Tennessee, five step grandchildren, and three step great granchildren.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hanna; and brother-in-laws, Fred Hanna and Ronald Cromwell.
