Paul J. "Sonny" McCarter

September 12, 1944 — January 5, 2019

Mr. McCarter died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Savannah Healthcare and Rehabilitation in
Savannah, TN.

The son of the late Paul Jennings McCarter, Sr. and Alice Maurine Davis McCarter, he was a life-long resident of Hardeman County. He worked as an auto-body repair technician for over 30 years both in Memphis and with Wayne's Body Shop.

Mr. McCarter was the widower of Diane Stewart McCarter and was also preceded in death by a sister, Ila Mae Adams. He was a member of Porter's Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed antique cars and fishing in his spare time.

He leaves a daughter, Michelle Chase (Brad) of Bemis; two grandchildren, Hayley Yates (Brandon) and Taylor Chase; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Connie Jackson (Mark) of Middleton and Faye Wilson (Clay) of Paris, TN; a brother, Lester Gene McCarter of Middleton; two nieces, Keesha Lamberth and Donna Henson; and two nephews, Keenan Lamberth and Mickey McCarter.
