Paul Eugene Janis departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the age of 73 years, 10 months, 14 days. He was born in Harvard, Illinois on May 14, 1946, the son of the late Paul Janis and Adelide Janis Melson. On May 26, 1990, he was united in marriage to Lola Mae McClain, who survives.
Paul served honorably in the United States Army. Throughout the years, he did many things including working as a licensed electrician, licensed plumber, woodworking and scroll work, welder, small engine repair, and worked for the City of Savannah in the Animal Control Department and Parks Department. He attended the First Church of God in Savannah, Tennessee. At the end of his life, Paul was a donor with Tennessee Donor Services of Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition to his wife, Lola Mae McClain Janis of Savannah, Tennessee; Paul is survived by his stepdaughters, Robbie Tylene Melson Pitts and her husband John Wayne Pitts of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sherry Michelle Melson Timm and her husband Phillip Timm of Poplar Grove, Illinois; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Janis of Rockford, Illinois, Mary Ellen Reynolds and Debbie Melson, both of Harvard, Illinois; brothers, Peter Thomas Melson of Indiana, Ben Melson of Savannah, Tennessee, and David Melson of Rockford, Illinois.
Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a stepson, Melvin Melson and a brother, Johnny Melson.
