Peggy Goodman

July 22, 1935 — June 16, 2020

Mrs. Goodman, age 84 of Bolivar, passed from this life at her home on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

She was born July 22, 1935 to Jewell and Frances McCommon Cossar in Hardeman County where she lived most of her life, having lived a short time in Shelby County, returning in 1964. She was married November 7, 1959 to Walter Franklin Goodman who passed on December 27, 2006.

Mrs. Goodman was a garment factory worker for years at Master Slack, a cafeteria worker at Bolivar Elementary School and a member of Parran's Chapel Baptist Church. She loved her family, to garden and cook, attend church, go to ball games and watch her grandchildren. She especially loved to vacation at Ruby Falls.

She is survived by a son David Goodman (Karen) of Bolivar; 4 sisters, Ruby Maddox of Memphis, Margie Mignard (Dick), Evelyene Hoover and Diane Doles (Don) all of Hickory Valley; 3 brothers, Charles Cossar (Lorene) and Jimmy Cossar (Linda) of Bolivar, and Mickey Cossar (Geneva) of Hickory Valley; a sister-in-law, Dell Cannon (Red) of Slayden, MS; and three grandchildren, Brandon(Britney), Connor (Jerri Ann) and Kaitlyn Goodman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Yopp; a brother, J. W. Cossar; a son, Jeffrey Lee, in 1981; and a son Allen and daughter Teresa at childbirth.

The family requests memorials be given to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Saulsbury.
