Beloved wife, mother, sister, Grammy, and friend, Phyllis Ann McCord was born August 3, 1942 in Pontiac, Michigan and departed this life on February 5, 2019.
She was the daughter of the late Adelle and Earl Sevegney. She lived in Michigan until she was 12 when her family moved to California. She graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1960 and Santa Barbara Beauty College in 1961. On January 30, 1965 she married her sweetie, Jerry McCord. They just celebrated 54 years of marriage. She moved to Tennessee in 1975 and has called Hardeman County home since then. She retired from Dover Elevators.
She leaves behind her husband, Jerry McCord; beloved sister Maxine Schenk of Hemet, California; daughters Leslie Hall (Jesse) and Tracy Humphreys; six grandchildren, all of whom were her “favorites”, Jordan Humphreys, Jenna Fesmire (Jeremy), Jake Hall, Miles Humphreys, Emma Grace Humphreys, Tess Humphreys; and one really favorite great-grandson, Eli Fesmire. She is also leaving many special friends and honorary family members including Carly Weems.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Sevegney.
Her favorite things to do besides singing happy birthday to her “favorites”, playing games, and doting on her grand and great grand children was spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and making everyone feel special. She taught us how to love.
