Reabon Paul Tenry

August 8, 1922 — May 15, 2019

Reabon Paul Tenry was born in Chester County, Tennessee on August 8, 1922, the son of the late John Robert Gilbert and Florence Agnes Bishop Tenry. Mr. Tenry departed this life on May 15, 2019, at the age of 96 years, 9 months, and 7 days.

Mr. Tenry served his country in the United States Army for three years, where he served in the North Pacific in World War II and in the Korean War. He met his wife, Mabel Carolyn Shaffer, through her brother, Preston, whom he served with in the Army. They corresponded by mail. After his discharge in December 1945, they met and married on February 16, 1946. They made their home in Union City, Tennessee, where he farmed soybeans and corn and had hogs and dairy and beef cattle.

In addition to his wife of 73 years, Mr. Tenry is survived by his sister, Agnes Smith of Henderson, Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Mr. Tenry was preceded in death by his sisters, Ulene Cash and Ivene Bishop and brothers, Knox Tenry, Welton Tenry, Wilson Tenry, Harold Tenry, Ray Tenry, and Neal Tenry.
