Reta Mae Boleyn Scott was born January 18, 1928 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Brodie Travis and Eunia Leora Deatheridge Boleyn. She was united in marriage to Willard Lee (Jack) Scott on June 5, 1943. Mr. Scott preceded her in death on June 3, 1990 after 47 years of marriage.
Mrs. Reta retired from Brown Shoe Company in Savannah, TN with 35 years of service. She was a loyal member of Love & Truth Church, Adamsville Campus, where she had been a care team leader and a participant of the weekly prayer group. She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing, working in the yard, sitting with other elderly ladies, and helping others. Reta enjoyed quilting, doing applique, and reading her Bible. She was known for her famous fried pies, peanut brittle, and great cake baking. Mrs. Scott departed this life on December 22, 2018 in Selmer, TN at the age of 90 Years, 11 Months, 4 Days.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Scott Jones and husband Jerry of Selmer, TN; three grandchildren, Amy Jones Phillips and husband Kevin of Murfreesboro, TN, Joy Jones Hundley and husband Bryan of North Vernon, IN, Clay Jones and wife Alecia of Kossuth, MS; six great grandchildren, Dalton Phillips, Morgan Phillips, Trey Hundley, Todd Hundley, Tanle Jones, J D Jones; a sister, Marie Carroll of Adamsville; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy (Dot) Alexander, Pauline Hardin, Virginia Gooch; five brothers, Glen Boleyn, Curtis Boleyn, J. M. Boleyn, Floyd Boleyn, Clyde Boleyn.
Special thanks to Dr. Jim King and the staff at McNairy County Health Care Center in Selmer for the loving care they provided Reta and her family during her stay at the center.
Services will be held on December 26, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville in Adamsville, Tennessee. Burial will follow in the Adamsville Cemetery at Adamsville, Tennessee.
