Reva Melton was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on January 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Alfred Dewey and Lela Elizabeth Rouse Frye. On March 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to Raymond Harold Melton, who preceded her in death on October 20, 1962. Reva departed this life on May 6, 2019, at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
Reva was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennesse. She was the first person hired at Tri-County Convalescent Home in McNairy County, Tennessee in 1972, and retired three different times before officially retiring at 75 years old. Reva loved church, reading, and fishing. She was a great cook that enjoyed cooking for her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and is remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother that was always in charge, as evidenced by the fact that no one was ever allowed to bother her hair.
Reva is survived by her son, Rickey Melton and wife Bonnie of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Diane McGee and husband Mike of Crump, Tennessee and Vickey King and husband Gary of Stantonville, Tennessee; sisters, Linda Faulkner of Finger, Tennessee and Mary Godsey and husband Paul of Memphis, Tennessee; brothers, Bill Frye of Finger, Tennessee and Wilbur Frye and wife Martha of Lexington, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Brandy Barnes, Justin Melton, Tim Hudson, and Katy Melton; twelve grandchildren, Steven, Kashay, Makayla, Caleb, Abel, Kooper, Korbyn, Isabella, Jeremiah, Ellie, Noah, and Logan.
In addition to her parents and spouse, Raymond, Reva was preceded in death by her sisters, Bonnie Frye, Frances Wilson, Edith Dallas, and Estelle Russell.
