Hearing his mom calling for him to come home, Rick passed at 12 noon on Wednesday June 22, 2022 with his wife Sharon and his dog Oscar Knapp by his side. Born and raised in Auburn, Rick joined the military in 1972 when he graduated from high school. He joined the US Army and served as a MP, stationed in Alabama, Korea and Florida before returning home to Nebraska. He met Bob Fleming working for the Power Department in Nebraska City. Thru Bob, Rick found the Lord and was saved. For the next several years, Rick was an over the road truck driver. They also had a garden of tomatoes and peppers and in August would make their salsa. The land they work together was his pride and joy. He enjoyed mowing and tending to his flowers and plants thru out the summer months into fall. He was also an avid bird watcher, feeding and caring for them all year round. Rick was also a judge for Memphis BBQ network with Sharon. Together they would travel thru Mississippi, Arkansas and West Tennessee judging BBQ contests. They also enjoyed riding their Harley thru Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Kentucky. Rick had a truly colorful life with amazing and funny stories. He will forever be in our hearts and thoughts as a sweet gentle soul. He will be missed terribly by those who truly knew him. He is survived by his wife Sharon and his two dogs Oscar Knapp and Tator. Sister Cheryl Cotton (Dan) and his brother Steve (Elaine). Father and mother-in –law, Tom and Edythe Walsh. Sister in Law Caroline O’Reilly (William) and numerous nieces and nephews.
