Rickey Chandler, 69, of Selmer, formerly of Roseville, California, departed this life Monday, August 21, 2017 at his home in Selmer.
The husband of Brenda Whited Chandler, who survives, he worked in financial services for various companies, retiring in 2011. Formerly, he had worked in the credit department of Sears for 27 years. He was born January 11, 1948, in Selmer, son of the late Robert Wayne Chandler and Mary Dean Crawford Chandler and grew up in the Hornsby area. He lived in California from 1999-2011 prior to moving back to this area. He was a 1966 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and graduated from Memphis State in 1970. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, building various things and being at the river. He was known for maintaining a well manicured lawn, spending lots of time mowing and trimming.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on July 5, 1967, survivors include two sons and their wives, Rick (Sharon) Chandler of Hornsby and Rob (Jessica) Chandler of Lincoln, CA; a daughter and her husband, Sherry (Tony) Smith of Seattle, WA; a granddaughter/daughter, Autumn Campbell of Selmer; and grandchildren, Kristi, Cullen and John-Michael Chandler of Hornsby, Robbie Chandler and Dreyvan Hayes of Columbus, OH, and Emmett Chandler of California. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Chandler Hodge in 2012. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/donate).
