Rickey McClain was born September 18, 1948 in Selmer, TN the son of the late Freeman and Lena Lucille James McClain.
He was united in marriage to Betty Ann Kirk in 1989. Mrs. McClain preceded him in death on Septmeber 9, 2016.
Mr. McClain was a member of the Pleasant Site Baptist Church in Selmer. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recepient due to the wounds he suffered in Vietnam on June 15, 1969. As most veterans he rarely talked of his service.
Rickey loved his family, they were the joy of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He cared for his flowers and garden, preserving and canning vegetables. When he wasn't working in his garden, he enjoyed fishing. He along with his late wife Betty were both wrestlers, something they both enjoyed.
Mr. McClain departed this life on June 15, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 70 Years, 8 Months, 28 Days. He is survived by two daughters, Christy Harmon of Selmer, TN, Regina Wiles of Selmer, TN; two sons, Brad McClain of Selmer, TN, Adam McClain of Selmer, TN; special daughter, Angie Newman and husband Shannon of Selmer, TN; a brother, Larry McClain and wife Ann of Columbia, TN; two sisters, Kaye Nix of Adamsville, TN, Janet Ferrell of Selmer, TN; nine grandchildren, Caleb, Mason, and Jacob McClain, Alex Wiles, Paige Espanet and husband David, Tyler Henry and wife Savannah, Taylor Harmon, Trenae Yarbro, Elijah Yarbro; two great grandchildren, Zachary Espanet, Bella Henry; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. McClain was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Sewell; six brothers, Wendell, Jimmy, Maury, Philip, David, and Ronald Earl McClain.
