Robbie JoAnn Sibley Shelton

April 3, 1929 — January 20, 2020

Robbie JoAnn Sibley Shelton - 90, of Lexington, TN passed away on January 20, 2020 in Louisville, KY. She was the first born of seven children to the late Doris and Clell Sibley of Crump, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Shelton of Adamsville,TN and also her brothers, Wallace and Jerry and her only sister, Bobbie Tyler. Those surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy Mealer (Rick) and Donna McCoy (Glenn), her grandsons, Jonathan (Jennifer) Mealer and Elliot McCoy, her brothers, Jack (Stephanie), Ted (Margie), Tom (Marlene), her sisters-in-law Livy Sibley and Becky Sibley, and many beloved nieces and nephews along with her dear great grandchildren, Makayla and Hutton Mealer.

JoAnn’s greatest passion was love for her immediate family and her large extended family. She had a tender heart for them and great compassion and tears also for her friends and even strangers in their suffering and difficulties. Except when her daughters were young, she worked in the offices of Brown Shoe Company in Selmer and Lexington, TN. JoAnn, who was often the prettiest lady in any room, loved beautiful fashion and expertly sewed much of her own clothing and lovely dresses for her daughters and others. A natural homemaker, she was an excellent cook and always seemed to know the best way to do everything from washing, ironing, and folding and making minor home repairs to wrapping the prettiest package. JoAnn was born a perfectionist!

Along with working and caring for her home, JoAnn served as a Jaycette, was a member of United Methodist Women in her church and was always active in politics serving as an officer for the Lexington Henderson County Democratic party. She spent countless hours as a mom assisting with her daughters’ school, Girl Scouts, and church activities.

JoAnn will be dearly remembered by all who loved her. Please donate any memorial gifts to the First United Methodist Church in Lexington, TN 38351 at 27 E Church St or to the charity of your choice.
