Robert Edgar Cox

Mr. Cox, age 83, of Cloverport, passed away on Friday morning, December 4, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

He was born in Hardeman County, the son of the late William Preston Cox and Myrtle Sipes Cox Yarbrough. Mr. Cox proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy for four years stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI. A member of the Cloverport Baptist Church, he frequently shared his love of the Lord through song and special music. Mr. Cox proudly served and retired from Union University as a Grounds Supervisor in Facilities Management. He was an avid UU Bulldog fan.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cox will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Cloverport Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Cloverport Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Dylan Wilson will officiate with Seth Wade, Peter Brown, Preston Brown, Luke Wood, Keith Pitman and David Taylor serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Cox leaves his wife of 44 years, Bonnie Daniel Wade Cox; eight children, Robin Cox Brown (Steven) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Danny Wade (Anita) of Henderson, Vickie Wade Clayton (Mike) of Henderson, John Wade (Gary) of Nashville, Marsha Wade Wood of Medina, Michael Cox (Ruth) of McHenry, MS, Julie Cox Jones of Huntsville, AL and David Cox (Kim) of Biloxi, MS; one sister, Shirley Cox Pitman (Austin, Jr.) of Millington; 14 grandchildren, Bethany Burnett, Taylor Clayton Record, Seth Wade, Luke Wood, Lily Wood, Peter Brown, Preston Brown, Jude Brown, Chelsea Cox Charlton, Megan Cox Newgent, Kyle Jones, Kelsie Jones Parra, Kaleb Cox and Devon Pattingill; and one great-grandchild, Griffin Kelley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by a son, William (Bill) Cox; and two brothers, William Cox and Jerald Cox.
