Roberta Jane Lunsford Runions

Roberta Jane Runions departed this life July 24, 2020 at her home in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on September 28, 1935 to Walter and Norah Lunsford. Roberta was a loving, devoted wife of 65 years to Bobby Joe Runions who preceded her in death in November of 2019. Roberta was the 12th of 13 children. She was preceed in death by four sisters: Nell Whitehead of Ridgley, TN, Brucie East of Richmond, VA, Eva Peeler of Eads, TN, Mary Moore of Marion, AR and six brothers, Jimmy Lunsford of Blytheville, AR, Eddie Lunsford of Buena Park, CA, Rayford Lunsofrd of Pekin, IL GW Lunsofrd of San Antonio, TX, Lewis Lunsford of Potts Camp, MS, and Joe Lunsford of McDonnough, GA. Roberta retired from and mangaged the bookstore at Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, TN. While in Dyersburg, she attended the Second Baptist Church wehre she served in various church roles: WMU Director, Church Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Teacher. After she and her husband Bobby, moved to Lawrenceburg, they became members of the Deerfield Baptist Church where sxhe also taught Sunday school class. Roberta enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially her Sunday school class of Deerfield Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends greatly and was a blessing to those who knew her.

Roberta is survived by her sons, Randall J. Runions and wife Teresa of Lawrenceburg and Howard Lunsford Ruions of Newbern, Tennessee. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Amber N Poston (Joe) of Lawrenceburg, Bethany Renea Baize (Rob) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Randy Joe Runions (Jessica) of Lawrenceburg, Lydia Jean Runions and Craig Runions of Lawrenceburg. three great grandchildren: Bryce McConnell, Ransen Runions, and Sutton Runions; one brother, Larry Lunsford (Linda) of Richmond, VA; one sister, Yvonne Cole (Charles) of Round Rock, Texas and several nieces and nephews.


Services to honor the life of Roberta Jane Lunsford Runions will be held on July 26, 2020 at Deerfield Baptist Church.Visitation with the family will be from 1:00-3:00 PM with a service following at 3:00 PM. Her nephew Bro. Steve Rogers along with Bro. Tony Gordy officiating. Burial will follow in Deerfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
