Mr. Roger "Kimp" Boykin, age 68 of Collierville, departed this life Monday afternoon, September 15, 2014 at Baptist Restorative Care Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Boykin was born in Sims, North Carolina June 24, 1946 to the late Joseph Roger Boykin and Mary Ellen Denton Boykin Elder. He graduated with the class of 1965 from WHS, and on September 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Shirley Bruce Boykin, who survives. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1967 - 1971 later and worked as a diesel mechanic for Roadway for 30 years. He lived in Collierville for 40 years and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Collierville, a member of the American Legion Post 250 in Germantown, and an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his daughters Lisa Griffin of Memphis, and Yolanda Bury of Cordova; sister, Susan Wech of Henderson; brother, Tommy Boykin of Oakland; and grandchildren, Barbara Griffin, Peter Bury and Noah Bury.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a sister, Faye Hunter.
